The University of Texas Marching Band is better known as the Show Band Of The Southwest…..which is hugely popular with ALL University of Texas students, alumni and the Longhorn fan base….and when 375 band members take the field to Texas Fight at every Longhorn football game at Darrell K. Royal Stadium in Austin, TX…..that’s when 103,000 strong avid Longhorn fans rise to their feet to the sounds of the Show Band of the Southwest.
We at ImaSportsphile really like this particular halftime show from the November 12, 1983 SWC game on HSE Network between the TCU Horned Frogs verses the Texas Longhorns….because HSE shows nearly the entire program by the Longhorn Band…..which includes some very intricate marching maneuvers and configurations that are not typically seen on the normal football game broadcast.
HSE Network brought this telecast back in the day featuring Bill Worrell and Mickey Herskowitz behind the mike.
