Music – 1985 – Donnie Osmond – You Are Ronalds Only Diamond – As He Sings To 1st Lady Nancy Reagan

In this video seen herewith…..Donny Osmond sings “You’re Ronald’s Only Diamond” to 1st lady Nancy Reagan as the credits are rolling at the end of a program that we have no idea of what it was….albeit seems like some special occasion in the life of the 1st Lady….as we believe this was the end of a Not Necessarily The News program on HBO in 1985.

Donny Osmond is an American singer, dancer, actor and former teen idol….who first gained fame performing with four of his elder brothers as the Osmonds….while earning several top ten hits and gold albums…..then, in the early 1970’s, Osmond began a solo career….while earning several additional top ten hits including “Go Away Little Girl” which was # 1 in the U.S….“Puppy Love” which came in at # 3….and later, “Soldier of Love” which landed at # 2 in the U.S…..plus, he also recorded the popular song “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” for the 1998 Disney film Mulan

Osmond became a teen idol in the early 1970’s as a solo singer….while continuing to sing with his older brothers…..for Donny Osmond, Bobby Sherman, and David Cassidy were the biggest “Cover Boy” pop stars for Tiger Beat magazine during this time. His first solo hit was a cover of Roy Orbison’s 1958 recording of “Sweet and Innocent”….which peaked at # 7 in the U.S. in 1971….as the early 1970’s vaulted him into international fame….which was further advanced by his 1972 appearance on the Here’s Lucy show….where he sang “Too Young” to Lucy’s niece, played by Eve Plumb….and sang “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again” with Lucie Arnez.
