Music – 1986 – Coast Guard Academy Glee Club – Star Spangled Banner – At The 38th NHL All Star Game

The United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) is the service academy of the United States Coast Guard in New London, Connecticut….which was founded in 1876….and is the second smallest of the five U.S. service academies….as it provides education to future Coast Guard officers in one of nine major fields of study. Unlike the other service academies, the Coast Guard Academy does not require a congressional nomination for admission.

Principal non-athletic activities are musical centered on Leamy Hall…..wit the Regimental Band, Windjammers Drum & Bugle Corps, various pep bands and the NiteCaps Jazz Band are instrumental programs. Chapel Choirs, Glee Club (as seen in this video herewith), the Fairwinds all-female a cappella group and The Idlers all-male sea shanty group are vocal programs.

The 1986 US Coast Guard Academy Glee Club sings the “Star Spangled Banner” at the start of the 38th NHL All Star Game….which was held at the Hartford Civic Center….while being the home to the Hartford Whalers, on February 4, 1986.  If you are a ImaSportsphile follower….you know that we have a high regard and respect for the “Star Spangled Banner”….as we have probably the most expansive and diverse numbers of renditions our National Anthem in the world….for we are extremely proud of this category.  The truth be known….we replayed this video several times today while posting it….and each time, a tear came to my eyes….as the simple truth is that if not for America…..this site could never take place….then when you add in the obvious beauty of the performance by the US Coast Guard Academy Glee Club rendition….and we here at ImaSportsphile bet that if Red White and Blue runs in your veins like ours…. and you appreciate a beautiful chorus rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner …..you will probably “tear up” watching this performance.
