Music – 1986 – John Denver – America, The Dream Goes On – John Williams Composition Sung At Lady Liberty July 4th Concert In NYC Harbor

Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. (December 31, 1943 – October 12, 1997), known professionally as John Denver, was an American singer-songwriter, record producer, actor, activist and humanitarian….whose greatest commercial success was as a solo singer….for Denver began his music career with folk music groups during the late 1960’s…..then starting in the 1970’s, he became one of the most popular acoustic artists of the decade….along with being one of its best-selling artists. By 1974, John Denver was one of America’s best-selling performers….to which AllMusic described Denver as “among the most beloved entertainers of his era”.

When this video of John Denver singing America, The Dream Goes On….as composed by John Williams and performed by Denver and The Boston Pops Orchestra at the 1986 July 4th Lady Liberty Celebration in New York Harbor….it became one of my favorite videos that I have ever posted….not so much for the music….but more for the memories of my Dad that came flooding back to me….cuz Pops was a career corporate commercial pilot….who every year had to take a required FAA extensive physical and flying simulation test….and Henry John Deutschendorf Sr. (John Denver’s dad) was the instructor of that required flying test for my Dad.

Simply put, you just never know when a video posted here at ImaSportsphile will bring back a “gush of wonderful memories”…..and it may not have anything to do with the video directly….as that is why we comment on our treasure chest of vintage memories so much in our posts.
