“One Voice” is the title song of Barry Manilow’s sixth studio album….which was released in 1979….while being recorded at United Western Studios and Allen Zentz Recording in Hollywood. The album was a signature of a minor decline in Manilow’s success…..cuz it reached 2x platinum, not 3x platinum, as his past six albums did…..and the album only contained one top ten hit, “Ships”….which peaked at # 9 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The song “One Voice” was featured in a lengthy segment in an episode of the British comedy show Only Fools and Horses….where the show’s central character Del Boy starts singing the song outside a block of flats late at night after he’s been drinking….which starts a riot.
As seen in this video herewith…..Barry Manilow performs with John Williams and The Boston Pops at the july 4, 1986 Lady Liberty Concert in New York harbor…..as Manilow sings “America The Beautiful” and “One Voice” towards the end of this very popular and patriotic event in salute of the Statue of Liberty.
