NBA – 1981 NBA All Star Game – West VS East – 2nd Qtr & 2nd Half

DOG ASIDE:

This 1981 NBA All Star Game signified the start of tthe Magic Johnson and Larry Bird era of the NBA…..as both entered the League for the 1979 / 1980 season….and from that point onward….either the Lakers or the Celtics won the NBA Championship 8 out of the 11 years they played against each other during their NBA careers…..with Magic and the Lakers winning rings in 1980, 1982, 1985, 1987 and 1988…..while Bird’s Celtics won in 1981, 1984 and 1986….so, during the decade of the 1980’s…..another team other than the Lakers or Celtics won the title in 1983 and 1989…..and  that my friends is what we call domination of a decade here at Imasportsphile.

The truth of the matter is that until Magic and Bird entered the NBA…..the league was dominated by the likes of Kareem Abdule Jabbar, Dr. J, George “Iceman” Gervin, Nate Archibald, Elvin “Big E” Hayes, Earl “The Pearl” Monroe, Clyde “The Glide” Frazier, John Havlicek and Rick Barry….but most of these great players gave way to the era of Magic Johnson and Larry Bird by the time this 1981 NBA All Star Game was played.

Regardless, any time a basketball fan gets an opportunity to watch 10 future members of the Basketball Hall of Fame play on the same court at the same time…..is deserving of the time necessary to watch….and that’s what this video below provides.
