DOG ASIDE:

This winners bracket 1st round game was played on May 30, 1987 between the University of Texas Longhorns verses the University of Arkansas Razorbacks….which featured two legendary college baseball coaches…..Norm DeBriyn of Arkansas…. who as the winningest coach in Arkansas history compiled a record of 1161 wins and 650 losses over a 32 year career from 1970 to 2002….with 2 x SWC Championships and 4 x College World Series appearances…..and Cliff Gustafson of Texas….who was at the helm with the Horns from 1968 to 1996…. while compiling a 1456 wins to 377 losses for a .795 winning percentage over his career at UT…..after winning 22 x SWC Championships…..with 17 x College World Series appearances (an NCAA record still today in 2017)….and 2 x National Championships.

The starting line-up for the Razorbacks included RF Scott Pose, 2B Kelly Zane, 1B Jim Kremers, C Andy Skeels, DH Troy Eklund, SS Mike Sisco, 3B Don Thomas, CF Rod Moore and LF Dan Campbell….with P John Gebuhar starting on the mound for the Hogs.  The Horns starting line-up featured CF Elanis Westbrooks, SS Coby Kerlin3B Scott Coolbaugh, RF Brian Cisarik, DH Scott BNryant, 2B Todd Haney, 1B Lenny Bell, LF Rusty Crockett and C Brian Johnson….with starting P Kevin Garner being replaced by RP Mark Petkovsek in the 3rd inning.

This was a really close game through the first four innings…..as Arkansas would have the lead by a score of 6 – 5 at the end of this video and the end of the 4th inning…..as the Texas Longhorns would go on to win by a score of 13 – 6…..and any way you cut the pie….that makes this video well worth the watch.
