NCAA Football – 1986 SWC – Thanksgiving Day – Texas Longhorns VS Texas Aggies

DOG ASIDE:

The 1986 version of the Southwest Conference Thanksgiving Day Classic between The University of Texas and Texas A & M University was the last game in which Longhorn Coach Fred Akers would coach after being at the helm in Austin for 10 years and two (2) SWC Championships.

The Aggies were led by Coach Jackie Sherrill….who was in his 5th year at the helm in College Station….having won the 1985 SWC Title….who would go on to win the 1986 and 1987 SWC Titles….by putting together a string of 3 in a row.  Aggies QB Kevin Murray throws for 277 yards and leads his squad to a 16 – 3 victory over the Texas Longhorns in this 1986 Thanksgiving Day battle.

The Longhorns vs Aggies football rivalry started in 1894 and ended in 2011….when the Aggies bolted the Big 12 Conference for the Southeast Conference….which makes all recorded videos like the one herewith…..a treasure and piece of history that may never ever be repeated….making this video a must see TV event.
