This 1987 SWC game of the week halftime show for the game between the Texas Longhorns verses the Texas Tech Red Raiders starts off with a feature on what Texas Tech University out on the West Texas plains in Lubbock, Texas….which is then followed by a piece called The Greatest of the Greatsof the SWC….which features the college career of TCU wide receiver Mike Renfro….who graduated from college as the all-time leading pass receiver in school and Southwest Conference history….with 2,739 receiving yards….who also left as the school’s career leader in receiving touchdowns with 17….and career receptions with 162….who played for the Horned Frogs during a low point in the TCU football history…. which cost him the opportunity to earn more accolades for his play….after never experiencing a winning season and winning only 4 games in 4 seasons.
The halftime show continues with the Texas Tech Red Raider Band’s halftime musical performance…. then proceeds to game broadcasters Bud Wilkerson and Merle Harmon….who breakdown the 1st half highlights and project what needs to be down in the 2nd half of play….which is followed by a feature piece on the University of Texas’ highly respected Honors Colloquim program that was responsible for attracting some of the best young minds to The Forty Acres.
