NCAAF – 1986 – 50th Cotton Bowl Classic PreGame Show – With Brent Musburger + Ara Parseghian

The 1986 Cotton Bowl Classic was an American college football bowl game played on January 1, 1986 at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas.  It was the 50th Cotton Bowl Classic held….in a game that  featured the Texas A&M Aggies verses the Auburn Tigers.

Coach Jackie Sherill was in his fourth year with A&M….with his previous three years having finished with a combined 16–16–1…..but in 1986, they won the Southwest Conference championship for the first time since 1976….and played in the Cotton Bowl for the first time since 1968…..whereas Auburn University came into the game being highlighted by Bo Jackson….who rushed for 1,786 yards and won the Heisman Trophy for a team that had at one point was ranked # 1 before losing to Tennessee….and finishing at 8 – 3….which was only good for 6th in the Southeastern Conference….while finishing behind the three teams that had beaten them in Tennessee, Florida and Alabama.

During this halftime show is a special feature on TCU’ All American wide receiver Mike Renfro…..which highlights the incredible accomplishments that he achieved with the Horned Frogs…..who won only 4 games in his four years of outstanding play…..while leading the SWC (Southwest Conference) in receptions all four years.
