NCAAF – 1986 – Orange Bowl OU Vs Penn St Halftime Show With Bob Costas + Don Criqui + Bob Griese + Bob Trumpy

The 1986 Orange Bowl was a postseason college football bowl game between the Oklahoma Sooners and the Penn State Nittany Lions. This was Oklahoma’s second straight Orange Bowl appearance and their second straight Big Eight Conference title. This was Penn State’s first Orange Bowl appearance since 1974.

Penn State’Tim Manoa gave Penn State an early lead on a short touchdown run….as they led 7-0 after one quarter of play….but the Sooners’ Tim Lasher kicked two field goals…..and TE Keith Jackson caught a touchdown from Jamelle Holieway…..as Oklahoma scored 16 points in the second quarter….while Massimo Manca gave Penn State their only points in the quarter with his field goal just before the half ended to make it 16 – 10 in favor of the Sooners.

The Orange Bowl halftime show begins with NBC’s Bob Costas at the Sports Desk covering all of the day’s other bowl games…..including the Cotton Bowl with Texas A&M verses Auburn and RB Bo Jackson….plus highlights of the Sugar Bowl with the Tennessee Vols leading the Miami Canes 28 – 7 in the 3rd quarter.  The halftime show then shifts to Don Criqui along with Bob Griese and Bob Trumpy….who were the broadcast play by play team for NBC….as they provide a concise assessment of the 1st half of play between the Sooners verses the Nittany Lions…..and then they assess what must happen in the second half for each team to win.
