College football Hall of Fame Coach Hayden Fry of the University of Iowa….as seen in this video herewith….was on the field at the 1986 Rose Bowl featuring the Iowa Hawkeyes vs. UCLA Bruins….who had a really incredible group of assistant coaches on the field with him….including College Hall of Fame Coaches Bill Snyder (of Kansas State fame) and Barry Alvarez (of Wisconsin fame)…with Snyder as his offensive coordinator and Alzarez as his linebackers coach….plus Kirk Ferentz (current Iowa University head coach0 as his offensive line coach…..along with “sure fire” Hall of Fame Coach Bob Stoops (of Oklahoma University fame) as his volunteer assistant…..in addition to brother Mike Stoops (of University of Arizona fame) as his graduate assistant for the game.
From our point of view here at ImaSportsphile….that is quite a lot of talent on the bench for the Iowa Hawkeyes….to have been given such a “decisive beating” on the field on January 1, 1986.
