Addie Jo “Jody” Conradt (born May 13, 1941) is a retired women’s basketball coach….who was the head coach for the women’s team at University of Texas at Austin for 31 years from 1976 to 2007….where she also served concurrently as the UT women’s athletic director from 1992 to 2001. During her tenure at UT, she achieved several notable personal and team milestones in collegiate basketball….as she tallied 900 career victories….which second place in all time victories for an NCAA Division I basketball coach….as well as leading her Lady Longhorns to the National Title in 1986.
Gary Bender (born September 1, 1940) is a retired American sportscaster and 2008 inductee into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame. He officially retired, April 13, 2011, from Fox Sports Arizona network after 18 years calling the NBA’s Phoenix Suns games. He was CBS’ first play-by-play announcer for the network’s coverage of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament….calling the Final Four alongside Billy Packer in 1982, 1983 and 1984. He also called the NCAA Women’s Final Four in 1986….evidenced by this post game interview of Texas Coach Jody Conradt….after her Lady Longhorns dismantled the Women of Troy from USC in the finals. In 1982 and 1983, Bender was CBS’ lead college football play-by-play man.
