NCAAW Basketball – 1986 – Womens Midwest Region Semifinals – Texas VS Ole Miss – 1st Half

DOG COMMENTARY:

The Texas University Lady Longhorn basketball team set a women’s national collegiate record in 1986 that can never be brokent….only tied (which UCONN and Tennessee subsequently did)….as the Lady Horns completed a perfect season with 34 wins and 0 losses.

Quite honestly….the Lady Horns basically didn’t have any competition worth speaking of in their run to the National Championship….other than this game in the video herewith with the Ole Miss Lady Rebels…. which proved to be a closely fought game throughout the entire contest…..wherein neither team amassed more than a 7 point lead at any time….as Texas demolished Missouri 106 – 67 in the Midwest Regional 2nd round….then stomped on Oklahoma by a score of 85 – 59….then after beating these Ole Miss Lady Rebels in the Midwest Regional Finals….they went on to destroy Western Kentucky by a score of 90 – 65 in the National Semifinals…..and followed that up with a thorough smashing of reigning National Champ USC by a score of 97 – 81.  So, the University of Mississippi Lady Rebels were the only team to even give these undefeated Texas Lady Longhorns a game.

Any way you cut the pie…..this University of Texas Lady Longhorn basketball team was the picture of perfection….which is very difficult to achieve in any season of any quality national championship….but especially in a team sport….which equates to MUST SEE TV for any and all fans of women’s basketball…. especially those who bleed Burnt Orange.
