News – 1986 – Tom Brokaw Reports On Reykjavic Iceland Summit By US President Reagan + USSR Gorbachev

DOG ASIDE:

The Reykjavík Summit was a summit meeting between U.S. President Ronald Reagan and General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev….which was held in Reykjavík, on 11–12 October 1986. The talks collapsed at the last minute….but the progress that had been achieved eventually resulted in the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty between the United States and the Soviet Union.

So, it is always a point of great interest to this lil ole chiweenie Sportsphile….when considering the premise that “the only constant in the world today is change”….cuz this video seen herewith completely blows that premise out of the water…..for here it is, a mere 32 years later…..when US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are engaging in talks about a new summit to be held sometime after the start of 2019 to discuss a new arms treaty to replace the one that President Trump has backed out of the one started by Reagan back in 1986…..so, it appears that “no matter how much things change….they stay the same.” as evidenced by the impending current events.
