NFL – 1986 – NBC Halftime Highlights – AFC + NFC Titles – Broncos Vs Browns + Redskins Vs Giants

DOG ASIDE:   

This NBC halftime show for the 1986 AFC Championship between the Denver Broncos vs. Cleveland Browns features Bob Costas and Coach Don Shula at the mike covering the highlights of the 1at half of this AFC title game….followed by the highlights of the NFC title game between the Washington Redskins vs. Minnesota Vikings played earlier that afternoon.  

This game is best remembered for The Drive….when the Broncos drove 98 yards to tie the game with 37 seconds left in regulation….and Denver kicker Rich Karlis made the game-winning 33-yard field goal 5:38 into overtime.  

The Browns scored first when QB Bernie Kosar threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to running back Herman Fontenot at the end of an 86-yard drive….which was followed by the Broncos scoring 10 unanswered points on a 19-yard Karlis field goal….and RB Gerald Willhite’s 1-yard rushing TD….to which Cleveland kicker Mark Moseley answered with a 29-yard field goal before halftime to tie the score at 10 – 10. 

Costas and Shula then shift their focus to the highlights from NFC title game between the Redskins and the Vikings….in a game that the Giants’ defense kinda dominated….shutting out the Washington Redskins by a score of 17 – 0.
