NFL – 1986 – NFC Wild Card Game – Los Angeles Rams Vs Washington Redskins – 1st Qtr

 DOG ASIDE:

This 1986 NFC Divisional Playoff Game between the Los Angeles Rams versus the Washington Redskins took place on December 28th at RFK Stadium in Washington, DC at 4pm EST in front of 54,567 fans.  CBS Sports carried the game with legendary NFL broadcasters Pat Summerall and John Madden at the mike.

Although the Rams out gained Redskin in total yards 324-228 for the day….they turned over the ball six times en route to a 19 – 3 defeat against the Redskins.

In the first quarter, a fumble lost by Los Angeles running back Eric Dickerson led to Redskins kicker Jess Atkinson’s 25 yard field goal….after which Washington extended their lead to 10 – 0 on a 60 yard drive capped off by QB Jay Schroeder’s 14-yard TD pass to RB Kelvin Bryant…..with a key play being a controversial pass interception penalty against Ram Pro Bowl CB LeRoy Irvin….which gave the Skins a total of 28 penalty yards….with 13 on the initial penalty and 15 more against Irvin for arguing with the official.  The Rams then had a great chance to respond after QB Jim Everett completed a 45-yard pass to Kevin House on the Redskins 28 yard line….but another Dickerson fumble resulted in no points being scored.
