NFL – 1986 – Preseason Game – New York Giants VS Atlanta Falcons – 1st Half

DOG ASIDE:   

This 1986 NFL preseason game between the New York Giants and the Atlanta Falcons was played on August 9th….and was won by the Falcons by a score of 31 – 24. 

The 1986 Atlanta Falcons were coached by Dan Henning to a record of 7 – 8 – 1…..and a 3rd place finish in the NFC West Division.  The Falcons were led on offense by QB David Archer….who played in 11 games with 2007 passing yards….and 10 TD….with 9 interceptions…..while Falcons RB Gerald Riggs led the team in rushing with 1327 yards.    

The 1986 New York Giants were coached by Bill Parcells to a 14 – 2 record….and winning the NFC East….then leading the team to a Super Bowl XXI victory over the Denver Broncos by a score of 39 – 20.  QB Phil Simms led a potent offense with 3487 passing yards….with 21 TD’s and 22 interceptions…..as RB Joe Morris gained 1516 yards on the ground with 14 TD’s.  The Giants 1986 defense was equally potent with two Hall of Fame linebackers in Lawrence Taylor and Harry Carson. 

This 1986 preseason game between the Falcons vs the Giants was a good game that is fun to watch.
