NFL – 1986 Season – Dallas Cowboys VS Los Angeles Raiders – 2nd Half

DOG ASIDE:

Any time that the Dallas Cowboys square off against the Oakland / Los Angeles Raiders….whether it be in the regular season or the playoffs….it simply becomes must see TV for any and all NFL fans….for these are two storied NFL franchises…..known as “America’s Team” and “The Bad Boys of Raider Nation”. and this 1986 NFL regular season matchup is no exception….in a game played on November 9, 1986 at Texas Stadium….which was won by the Raiders by a score of 17 – 13.

Both Dallas and Los Angeles came into this contest with 6 – 4 records….as the Cowboys held a 10 – 7 halftime lead….along with a 13 – 10 lead at the end of the 3rd quarter….only to have the Raiders score with a couple of minutes left on the game clock….as they out-rushed the Raiders 166 yards to 130 yards….while out passing the Raiders with 147 net yards to 116 yards….in a game that featured such notable Cowboy players as RB Tony Dorsett, RB Hershel Walker, WR Mike Renfro, TE Doug Cosbie, WR Tony Hill, DT John Dutton, DE Too Tall Jones, DB Everson Walls, DE Jim Jeffcoat, DB Bill Bates and DT Randy White…..while the Raiders roster featured such Raider greats as QB Jim Plunkett, RB Marcus Allen, RB Napoleon McCallum, TE Todd Christenson, DE Reggie McKenzie, DT Bill Pickel DB Vann McElroy, DE Howie Long, DB Lester Hayes, OL Don Mosebar and K Ray Guy…while the Cowboys were coached by Tom Landry and the Raiders were coached by Tom Flores.

This was a really close game that is well worth the watch.
