NFL – Hardest Hits Hardest Hitters – Bears Dick Butkus & Giants Lawrence Taylor

DOG COMMENTARY:

When Bone Daddy talks about the NFL from the 1960’s to the 1990’s…..he seems to always get around to the subject of the hardest hits and the hardest hitters he had seen….as two guys names that come up every time…Dick Butkus, linebacker for the Chicago Bears in the 60’s and 70’s…..and Lawrence Taylor in the ’80’s and ’90’s.

Richard Marvin “Dick” Butkus (born December 9, 1942) is a former American football linebacker….who played for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League. He was drafted in1965…. and is widely regarded as one of the best and most durable linebackers of all time…..for to hear Bone Daddy tell it….“You could be not looking at the TV….doing and thinking something else….and the minute The Monster of The Midway put a hit clean hit on a running back on the sidelines….no matter what you were doing….you turned to the TV to see if the running back could get up….cuz it was an explosion that grabbed your attention”…..and that’s the way BD remembers this player that could deliver a hard hit.  Butkus played college ball for the University of Illinois…..and then spent his entire career as a Chicago Bears……being elected as a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1979. He played nine seasons in the NFL for the Chicago Bears. Billed at 6 ft 3 in (1.91 m), 245 lb (111 kg), he was one of the most feared and intimidating linebackers of his time….being named the most feared tackler of all time by NFL.com in 2009.

Lawrence Julius Taylor (born February 4, 1959), nicknamed “L.T.”, is a Hall of Fame former American football player. Taylor played his entire professional career as a linebacker for the New York Giants (1981–1993) in the National Football League (NFL). He is considered to be one of the greatest players in the history of football….and has been ranked as the greatest defensive player in league history by former players, coaches, media members, and news outlets such as the NFL Network, and Sporting News….and since Bone Daddy is a Cowboy fan….and the Giants are a huge NFC East rival…..he doesn’t have  a lot to say about L T…..but I like him….1st, cuz he’s L T and I am L E……2nd, cuz we are both black and beautiful…..and 3rd, cuz this man was a reincarnation of Butkus….only on the outside instead of in the middle.
