NFL – Men Who Played The Game – The Fridge – Chicago Bears Refrigerator Perry

DOG ASIDE:

William Anthony Perry (born December 16, 1962) is a former American professional football player who was a defensive lineman in the National Football League (NFL) for ten seasons during the 1980’s and 1990’s.  Perry played college football for Clemson University….and was recognized as an All-American. He was selected in the first round of the 1985 NFL Draft…and played professionally for the Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL. In reference to his imposing size….he was popularly known as “The Refrigerator” or, abbreviated, “The Fridge”. What this lil ole Chiweenie loved about The Fridge…..besides the fact that Coach Mike Ditka would put him in at fullback (his normal position was the defensive line) when the Bears were down on the opposing team’s goal line….and give him the ball to carry the last yard to a touchdown….or surprise the defense by tossing him a pass for a touchdown…..but my favorite thing about The Refrigerator was that he just loved to eat…..especially fried chicken…..and me and Fridge have those culinary tastes in common.
