NFL – Special – 1978 – Inside The NFL – Part 1

DOG ASIDE:

The 1978 NFL season saw the Dallas Cowboys lead the NFL in defensive sacks on the quarterback….while the 49’ers were in such shambles that they had to resort to WR Fred Soloman as their quarterback at one point in this season….however, the league did introduce two sensational rookies in San Diego’s WR John Jefferson who scored 13 TD’s during his 1st season….and Oiler RB Earl Campbell….who led the NFL in rushing….becoming the 1st rookie running back since Jim Brown….as both shined in their season’s match-up where the Chargers racked up 500 yards on offense.

The game between the Seattle Seahawks vs Kansas City Chiefs where the Seahawks became the first expansion team to win 9 regular season games….then in the game between the Buffalo Bills vs Baltimore Colts….Bills RB Terry Miller to become the 10th rookie to surpass the 1,000 yard marker…..while Saints QB Archie Manning led the New Orleans Saints to their best season ever with 7 wins….as Manning also had his best season in the NFL.

During this 1978 season, the Pittsburgh Steelers slapped 6 sacks on the Denver Broncos and won the AFC Championship game….to face off with the Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowl XIII in one of the all-time best games ever played in a Super Bowl.
