DOG COMMENTARY:
I just love to watch this video over and over again….cuz it is awesome to see this touch football game which served as a reinactment of the “greatest NFL game ever played”….for there are so many Hall of Fame players participating in this somewhat less competitive game than the one played back in 1958.
The 1958 National Football League Championship Game was the 26th NFL championship game….which was played on December 28 at Yankee Stadium in New York City. It was the first NFL playoff game to go into sudden death overtime….with the final score being a Colt victory at 23 – 17….for the game has since become widely known as “The Greatest NFL Game Ever Played“….as this game marked the beginning of the NFL’s popularity surge and eventual rise to the top of the United States sports market….for a major reason was that the game was televised across the nation by NBC. Baltimore receiver Raymond Berry recorded 12 receptions for 178 yards and a touchdown. His 12 receptions set a championship record that stood for 55 years.
Any way you cut the pie….this video is a wonderful reminder of a great game played by a whole bunch of NFL Hall of Fame Members….who got together to reinact a game that will forever be remembered….and what makes this footage such a treasure is the obvious warmth and closeness of friendships that these teammates had for each other.
