During the decade of the 1970’s….the Minnesota Vikings were one of the more domineering NFL teams….having played in Superbowl IV (1970)….Superbowl VIII (1974)….Superbowl IX (1975)….and Superbowl XI (1977)….but wht sports fans remember about this team is that they never won one….albeit they were losses to some really good teams like Coach Hank Stram’s Kansas City Chiefs in 1970…..Coach Don Shula’s 1973 team that put QB Bob Griese, RB Larry Czonka, OG Larry Little, C Jim Langer and WR Paul Warfield into the Hall of Fame…..Coach Chuck Knoll’s Pittsburgh Steelers led by The Steel Curtain with “Mean” Joe Greene, L. C. Greenwood, Ernie Holmes and Dwight White…..and finally by a Coach John Madden led Oakland Raiders team which featured future Hall of Famers QB Ken Stabler, WR Fred Biletnikoff, OL Gene Upshaw, OL Art Shell, TE Dave Casper, OLB Ted Hendricks, CB Willie Brown & K Ray Guy…..so, it becomes painfully obvious to all Minnesota Vikings fans that their four losses in their four Super Bowl appearance were to some of the best teams ever assembled in NFL history.
When considering what I have said above…..it illustrates why I have undertaken the daunting task of posting these thousands of videos like this one…..cuz sports fans everywhere are forgetting about such outstanding teams as the Minnesota Vikings of the 1970’s…..with hopes that NFL greats like Coach Bud Grant, C Mick Tinglehoff,, DE Carl Eller, QB Fran Tarkenton, DE Alan Page, OF Ron Yary and S Paul Krause….will never bee forgotten….for this wasn’t just a good team…..this was a great team…..for like NBA Hall of Famer “Sir Charles” Barkley…..they never won a ring ….but they were still something very special….and well worth watching and remembering.
