Entering the 3rd period of Game 4 of the 1985 Stanley Cup Finals between the Edmonton Oilers verses the Philadelphia Flyers….the Oilers had a 5 – 3 scoring lead….with a 2 games to 1 lead in the series…. when unbowed…. the Flyers leapt to a 3–1 lead midway through the first period thanks to a goal while at even strength….one on a power play….and one shorthanded goal….only to see the Oilers roared back with four consecutive goals…..including two from The Great One Wayne Gretzky….which led the Oiler to a win 5 – 3 win….while taking a commanding lead in the 1985 Stanley Cup Finals.
We at ImaSportsphile are just “tickled to death” to have such great footage of what we consider to be one of the greatest assemblage of hockey talent as this Edmonton Oilers team had put together…..including Mark Messier, Glenn Anderson, Paul Coffey, Jari Kurri, Lee Fogolin Jr., Kevin Lowe, Grant Fuhr, Charlie Huddy Andy Moog and The Great One, Wayne Gretzky…..which made the job of Coach Glen Sather all that much easier….as he led this talented group to 5 Stanley Cup Championships. So, anytime a hockey fan gets to see this team perform….take the time and ENJOY!!!
