ABC did some wonderful profiles of many athletes who competed at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics….as this video piece provides proof in the pudding….for it gives the viewer what it is like to compete on a world stage….and what it is like to be a big fish in a small pond….a world class swimmer in Australia…..as Tracy Wickham is a world class distance swimmer….holding the world record in the 800m freestyle going into the 1980 Moscow Games…..but like many athletes around the world in the countries that had favorable political ties with the US….Tracy did not get to compete….as Australia boycotted the Moscow Games as a show of allegiance to the United States.
