DOG COMMENTARY:

The 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games were truly one of the best performances ever by the USA Olympic Team….and the coverage by ABC Sports was equal to the task of bringing the Games live and in color throughout the entire Olympics.

On this the 8th day of competition…..ABC leads off with Donna de Varona and Jim Lampley covering the men’s 3m springboard diving competition featuring the incredible Greg Louganis of the USA…..as ABC even does a wonderful ABC Profile of America’s greatest diving champion ever…..then they shift to boxing and future gold medalist Meldrick Taylor in his semi-finals match….which was as with all boxing coverage at the L A Games….brought to the viewer by the inimitable Howard Cosell.

ABC follows boxing with O J Simpson and Al Michaels covering track and field at the Los Angeles Coliseum with 90,000 fans watching the men’s pole vault competition and the men’s 200m dash finals….as USA Carl Lewis wins his 3rd gold medal at the L A Games….and fellow teammates Kirk Baptista and Thomas Jefferson take silver and bronze, respectively….as the USA sweeps the 200m dash….which is followed by an in studio interview of Carl Lewis with Kathleen Sullivan of ABC.

This video then shifts over to the basketball areana for the Semi-Finals of the men’s competition between the USA…..coached by legendary basketball coach Bobby Knight….verses the team from Canada….in what was a good contest throughout a game covered by Notre Dame Coach Digger Phelps and the incomparable legend of sports broadcasting…..Keith Jackson.

Each and every day at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games is MUST SEE TV for any and all Olympic fans…..and this Day 8 seen herewith is no exception.
