As seen in this video herewith….Japan’s Koji Gushiken and China’s Li Ning tied for the gold medal in men’s gymnastics rings competition….while USA’s Mitch Gaylord won the bronze medal….as indicated in this video brought to the viewing audience by ABC’s Jack Whitaker.
Kōji Gushiken (born November 12, 1956) is a former Olympic gymnast for Japan at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California….where he won a total number of five medals….including two gold. He broke an ankle in May 1985 which prevented him from training for 3 months and hindered his performances at the 1985 World Championships. Gushiken announced his retirement at the 1985 Chūnichi Cup. He currently coaches other Olympic contenders.
Li Ning (born March 10, 1963) is a retired Chinese gymnast and entrepreneur….who He founded the sportswear company Li-NingLi….is most famous for winning 6 medals at the 1984 Summer Olympics…. which was the first Olympics in which the People’s Republic of China participated. He won three gold medals (in floor exercise, pommel horse and rings….two silver medals….and one bronze medal. Li became the most decorated Chinese athlete at the first Olympics that China participated in after the founding of the People’s Republic.
