DOG COMMENTARY:

Day 8 coverage of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics by ABC Sports starts off with Jim Lampley, Donna de Varona and Mark Spitz on the mikes at the Olympic Swim Center showcasing Canada’s Alex Baumann and USA’s Pablo Morales in the finals of the men’s 200m individual medley race…..which is followed by an interview of Baumann with De Varona.

ABC day 8 coverage then shifts to Al Michaels and Marty Liquori at the Los Angeles Coliseum for the two heats of the women’s semi-finals….where the top 4 qualifies from each heat move on to the finals….as this race featured three USA women including Ruth Wysochi, Kim Gallagher and Robin Campbell.

As the coverage moves back to the Olympic Swim Center for the highly anticipated 200m butterfly race with USA Madame Butterfly Mary T. Meagher….as she swims to gold to capture the 11th gold medal won by the USA women’s swim team….which sets a new American record for gold medals in one Olympic Games…..as Madame Butterfly swims the 3rd fastest time ever recorded in the history to a new Olympic Record of 2:06.10….which is followed by an interview with the best female butterfly swimmer in the world.  As always when dealing with ABC Sports coverage of the Olympic Games….this video provides wonderful analysis and awesome competition that is only seen at the Olympics.
