Olympics – 1984 Los Angeles – Boxing – Middlewts – Virgil Hill VS Damir Skaro

DOG ASIDE:

Virgil Eugene Hill (born January 18, 1964) is a retired American professional boxer….who is a four-time former world champion….having held the IBF, WBA and lineal light heavyweight titles….as well as the WBA cruiserweight title. In 2013, he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame….in addition to winning the 1984 National Golden Gloves at Middleweight.

In 1984 Hill, then age 20, won a silver medal in the 1984 Summer Olympics representing the United States as a Middleweight in Los Angeles in a close decision loss in the 165-lb. final (the USA’s only loss on decision in Los Angeles)…..as he made it to the finals by 1st defeating Edward Neblett RSC 2….followed by a defeat of GBR Brian Schumacher 5 – 0….then a 4 – 1 victory over YUG Damir Skaro (this video fight)…..followed by defeat Mohamed Zaoui 5-0….and finally loosing in the gold medal fight to KOR Shin Joon-Sup 2-3.
