Olympics – 1984 Los Angeles – Diving – Mens Platform – Final Dive Round

DOG ASIDE:

The men’s platform diving competition at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics was basically over by the time the competition started….cuz USA Greg Louganis was simply “head and shoulders” better than the rest of the competition in the field…..having won the preliminary round by 88 points over CHN Li Konzheng, Chan Tong Hui and USA Bruce Kimball….and by the time the final round came along on August 12….a competition that Bone Daddy saw live at the Olympic Swim Center….it was obvious that the competition would be for the silver medal….as no other diver could come within 67 points of Louganis’s total…..evidenced by the final standings as follow…..USA Greg Louganis (gold) 710.91 pts…..USA Bruce Kimball (silver) 643.50 pts….CHN Li Kongzheng (bronze) 638.28 pts….CHN Tong Hui (4th) 604.77 pts….and FGR Albin Killat (5th) 551.97 pts.
