Entering the 11th round dive of the men’s 3 m springboard diving competition finals at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics….where Greg Louganis literally had an insurmountable lead on his competition….leaving the fight in the final dive for the silver and bronze medal between USA Ron Merriot and the Chinese pair of Tan Liangde and Li Hongping. This round leads off with China’s Tan Liangde….on his way to winning the silver medal with a 3 1/2 forward somersault in a pike position….then comes Li Hongping of China…..performs beautifully to put himself in bronze medal position with only one diver, USA Ron Merriott to follow…..which Merriot does reverse 3 1/2 twister….done well enough to win him the bronze medal on his last dive….and the competition ends with Greg Louganis scoring 92.5 pts on his last dive….as we get to watch the dive from under water….which is really cool.
