After the 1st round of dives in the preliminaries of the women’s platform diving competition at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics….USA Michele Mitchell was in 1st….with Sweden’s Marianne Weinas in 2nd….then comes USA Wendy Wyland in 3rd….followed by China’s Zhou Jihong in 4th and Chen Xiaoxia in 5th….in what will turn into a very good and tight competition.
CHN Chen Xiaoxia leads off this video with a forward 1 1/2 somersault with twist in pike position….followed by Sweden’s Marianne Weinas performing a forward 1 1/2 somersault….next comes Tine Tollan of Norway who does a reverse in pike….then comes USA Wendy Wyland performing a forward 1 1/2 somersault….as Wyland is followed by Zhou Jihong of China….who does a reverse inward 1 1/2 in pike….then comes Argentina’s Veronica G. Ribot doing a reverse inward 1 1/2 somersault in pike…followed by USA Michele Mitchell performing a hand-stand inward somersault….as the 3rd round dives follow.
