DOG COMMENTARY:
There are athletes who come along once in a blue moon….who have the ability to capture the imagination of not only those fans who have been blessed with the opportunity of seeing that athlete perform….but also for those generations of fans who would follow in the generations to come….growing up with dreams of becoming the next legend. For every Sportsphile in the world….there have been just this kind of moment…with just this kind of athlete….accomplishing this incredible feat….under the pressure of an entire country….as Bone Daddy experienced on Saturday, August 4, 1984 at the Los Angeles Olympics….for this was the day that USA gymnast Mary Lou Retton captures the hearts and souls of sports fan everywhere….when she provided a “full cup full” of memories of super exceptional athletic endeavors….which affect athletes for future generations….that rest in the crevices of sports minds forever….just waiting for the next opportunity to see that athlete one more time.
Bone Daddy says he has been blessed to see many incredible athletic achievements…..for without a doubt in my lil ole Chiweenie mind….that he considers seeing Mary Lou Retton on the day that she was a perfect 10….not once but twice (vault and floor in all around competition)….and then watching her Coach Bela Karolyi carry her after she performed her history making vault….due to an injury she had suffered earlier in the competition….for BD says that without question….this was one of the greatest days in his Sportsphile life…..so, enjoy this video as you remember when this diminutive 4′ 9″ 93 lb dynamo not only capture gold….but also the hearts and souls of all those who appreciate.
