Olympics – 1984 Los Angeles – Track – Decathlon – Discus Throw

The discus throw in the men’s decathlon at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics was the 7th event of the 10 events in the competition….and going into the discus, GBR Daley Thompson was 109 points ahead of FGR Jurgen Hingsen in 2nd after 6 events…..while Thompson was 302 points ahead of FGR Wentz in 3rd place.

On Hingsen first throw….he got off a toss of 166′ 10″……while Thompson’s 1st throw was only 136′ 2″…..so the German looked to make up some serious points on the British lad….but as with all world class competitions….the event is not over until “the fat lady sings”….and this video proved that to be true.
