Tim Bright is a retired American decathlete and pole vaulter…..who represented the US in the decathlon at the 1984 Olympics…and as seen in this video….he sets a new Olympic Record of 17 ft 8 1/2 in. …..while picking up 1143 points in the L.A, Olympics pole vault event. He also represented the US in the decathlon at the 1987 World Championships….plus while in the pole vault competition, he represented the USA at the 1985 World University Games….the 1985 World Cup….the 1991 World Championships and the 1992 Olympics. He won the American national championships in decathlon in 1987. His personal best score was 8340 points….achieved in June 1987 in San Jose. At one point he held the Decathlon World Record for the Pole Vault….set during the 1988 Olympics. He also became American champion in pole vault in 1991 and 1992….with his personal best jump was 5.82 meters….achieved in July 1990 in Nice.
On this particular day of competition….FGR Jurgen Hingsen….the decathlon world record holder at 8,898 points coming into these Olympics….and this video features him in the javelin throw….where he injures his throwing arm in the elbow area on his throw.
