Geertruida Maria (Ria) Stalman is a Dutch former athlete…..who during her athletic career she specialized in the shot put and discus….who won gold in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics women’s discus competition…..having been the Dutch champion in both disciplines 17 times. She has held the Dutch discus throw record since 1984.  The NTR program “Other Times Sport” that aired on January 8, 2016….noted that Stalman had used steroid to recover better and faster after each workout…which was used prior to her Olympic participation.

Leslie Jean Deniz is an American athlete….who competed mainly in the women’s discus throw event.  She competed for the United States in the 1984 Summer Olympics held in Los Angeles….winning the silver medal in the women’s discus competition.  Leslie attended Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ…..where her teammate was Ria Stalman,…who won the 1984 Olympic gold medal in a tight competition.
