New York City resident David “Sonny” Werblin bought the American Football League New York Titans franchise in 1963. He parlayed this purchase into the building of The Meadowlands Complex in East Rutherford, NJ in 1971….becoming the head of Madison Square Garden and it properties….the NHL’s New York Rangers franchise and the NBA’s New York Knicks franchise….which he held until 1984.
