1986 saw the Boston Celtics take the NBA Title in a 4 – 2 series against the Twin Towers (Ralph Sampson and Akeem Olajawon) of the Houston Rockets…..as Larry Bird was awarded NBA MVP award for the year…..where the Louisville Cardinals beat the Duke Blue Devils 72 – 69 in the finals of the ’86 Final Four….and the USA won the FIBA World Championships. In boxing….Mike Tyson ko’d Trevor Berbick in the 2nd rnd to win the World Heavyweight Title….becoming the youngest champion in history at 20 years and 4 months old. In cycling, US Greg LeMond became the 1st ever winner of the Tour de France……and in figure skating…USA’s Brian Boitano and Debi Thomas became World Figure Skating Champions.
