Speed Skating – 1985 – World Sprint Chamionships Mens All Around – Featuring USA Dan Jansen

Dan Jansen is a retired American speed skater….who was a multiple world champion in sprint….while having won the bronze medal at Heerenveen, Holland in 1985…..as seen in this video herewith….and then won the silver medal at Karuizawa, Japan in 1986….followed by winning the gold at West Allis, Wisconsin USA in 1988…then again Jansen won silver at Oslo, Norway in 1992….and finished off his World Sprint Championships with gold in Calgary, Canada in 1988….with all being in the 500m…..plus, he was a perennial favorite at the Winter Olympics….where he broke a ten-year Olympic jinx when he won a gold medal in his final race….which was the 1,000 meters in the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Games.

Dan Jansen set a junior world record in the 500-meter race at age 16, and finished 16th in the 1,000 meters and fourth in the 500 meters at the 1984 Winter Olympics….who between the 1992 and 1994 Olympics was the only skater to break 36 seconds in the 500 meters….while doing so four times…..and over the course of his career, Jansen set eight world records in speed skating.2
