Sports Special – 1984 – CBS Reviews The Year In Sports – MJ & Bird & Jimmy & Barry & Iron Mike & Cus

The year 1984 was truly a historic year in sports and in the life of Bone Daddy….as the year produced such memorable moments as Michael Jordan scoring 63 points in the Playoffs against Bird and the Celtics…..and the awesome Orange Bowl between # 1 Oklahoma vs # 2 Miami…..as Coach Jimmie Johnson led his Canes to the top of the heap by beating Coach Barry Switzer’s Sooners….as the only two coaches in football history to win both an NCAA National title and Super Bowl ever faced each other in a Bowl game….and then to the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympics….where Bone Daddy set a fan record that can never be broken….only tied….as he and two friends and Olympic sojourners saw a live event in all 26 sports competed at the Summer Games.

The CBS broadcast team of Dick Stockton, Pat O’Brien, Tim Ryan, Billy Packer, Brent Musberger, James Brown and Jim Nance give their viewers an incredible compilation of highlights and storylines that weeved their way throughout the entire fiber of the universe of sports in 1984.

We at Ima Sportsphile really enjoyed the piece that Tim Ryan did on the relationship between legendary boxer Iron Mike Tyson and his friend, trainer and mentor…Cus D’Amato….which gives serious evidence of what Tyson’s life might have been had Cus not died so early in Iron Mike’s career….as this piece alone makes this video well worth watching.
