TV Ads – 1976 – Pepsi Soda + Dentyne Gum + Dr Pepper Soda + TX Folklife Festival + Public Service

Pepsi is a carbonated soft drink manufactured by PepsiCo…..which was originally created and developed in 1893 by Caleb Bradham….while being introduced as Brad’s Drink….and was renamed as Pepsi-Cola on August 28, 1898…..and then as Pepsi in 1961.

Dentyne is a series of brands of chewing gum available in several countries globally…..when in 1899, a New York City druggist Franklin V. Canning formulated a chewing gum which he promoted as an aid to oral hygiene….”To prevent decay, To sweeten the breath, To keep teeth white”…..as read on the package. Mr. Canning called his new gum Dentyne which is a combination of the words “dental” and “hygiene”

Dr Pepper is a carbonated soft drink….which was created in the 1880’s by pharmacist Charles Alderton in Waco, Texas…..and was first served around 1885…..as Dr Pepper was first nationally marketed in the United States in 1904….and is now also sold in Europe, Asia, North and South America, and Australia….as well as New Zealand and South Africa as an imported good. 

The Texas Folk Festival has been held annually at the Institute of Texas Cultures Center in San Antonio, Texas…..where a mixture of Texas cultures, food, arts and crafts and music all come together under one roof to celebrate the vast combination of different people, tastes, sounds and styles. 

Public Service Messages on television during the 1970’s provided a way for the local, state and federal governments to get information of great import and value to a wide array of folks out to the public….as seen in this video herewith…..where the service message is about 200 Health Careers that were available to high school students after graduation.
