TV Ads – 1979 – Kelloggs Special K Cereal + Sears Stores + Nissan Cars + Freedom Thin Feminine Pads

DOG COMMENTARY:

The Kellogg Company is an American multinational food manufacturing company headquartered in Battle Creek, Michigan….which produces cereal and convenience foods, including cookies, crackers, toaster pastries, cereal bars, fruit-flavored snacks, frozen waffles, and vegetarian foods. The company’s brands include Froot Loops, Apple Jacks, Corn Flakes, Frosted Flakes, Rice Krispies, Special K, Cocoa Krispies, Keebler, Pringles, Pop-Tarts, Kashi, Cheez-It, Eggo, Nutri-Grain, Morningstar Farms, and many more. Kellogg’s stated purpose is “Nourishing families so they can flourish and thrive.”  Kellogg’s products are manufactured in 18 countries and marketed in over 180 countries…..with its largest factory is at Trafford Parkin Trafford, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom….which is also the location of its European headquarters….as Kellogg’s holds a Royal Warrant from Queen Elizabeth II and the Prince of Wales.

Sears, Roebuck and Company, colloquially known as Sears, is an American chain of department stores founded by Richard Warren Sears and Alvah Curtis Roebuck in 1892 and 1906…which for many decades was based at the Sears Tower in Chicago…but currently headquartered in Hoffman Estates, Illinois….with an operation that began as a mail ordering catalog company….who began opening retail locations in 1925….with the first location was in Evansville, Indiana. The company was bought by the management of the American big box chain Kmart in 2005, the Kmart management formed Sears Holdings upon completion of the merger. In terms of domestic revenue, Sears was the largest retailer in the United States until October 1989….when Walmart surpassed the record….and has never looked back.  As of 2017, Sears was the 23rd largest retailer in the United States overall.

Nissan Motor Company Ltd is usually shortened to Nissan….which is a Japanese multi-national auto manufacturer headquartered in Nishi-ku, Yokohama. The company sells its cars under the Nissan, Infiniti, and Datsun brands with in-house performance tuning products labelled Nismo. The company traces its name to the Nissan zaibatsu, now called Nissan Group.  In 2013, Nissan was the sixth largest automaker in the world after Toyota, General Motors, Volkswagen Group, Hyundai Motor Group, and Ford….and when you combine the current sales of the Renault–Nissan Alliance….it would be the world’s fourth largest automaker. Nissan is the leading Japanese brand in China, Russia and Mexico.  Nissan is the world’s largest electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer….with global sales of more than 275,000 all-electric vehicles as of mid-December 2016. 

Now when it comes to Freedom Thin Feminine Pads….we couldn’t hardly find any information about this product….however, there is a product that is sold today in 2018 that is a ACI Savlon Freedom Super Dry Feminine Pads that we think the Freedom Thin Pad sold in this 1979 television ad was the grandmother of this current brand.
