TV Ads – 1979 – MiniSeries The Thorn Birds + Memorex Audio Cassette Tapes + Cheer Laundry Detergent

Melissa Manchester ain’t no Ella Fitzgerald…..as we at ImaSportsphile don’t think she can break a crystal glass with one of her high notes…..whereas, we are pretty dang sure that Ella can….and when you think of Memorex tv ads….you think of Ella Fitzgerald.

The Thorn Birds is an American television miniseries broadcast on ABC from March 27 to 30, 1983….which starred Richard Chamberlain, Rachel Ward, Barbara Stanwyck, Christopher Plummer, Piper Laurie, Jean Simmons, Richard Kiley, Bryan Brown, Mare Winningham and Philip Anglim….while being directed by Daryl Duke….and based on a novel of the same name by Colleen McCullough. The series was enormously successful and became the United States’ second highest-rated miniseries of all time behind Roots….as both series were produced by television veteran David L. Wolper.

Cheer is a laundry detergent sold in the United States and Canada…..which is manufactured by Procter & Gamble….and was introduced in 1950….which became a highly successful follow up product to P&G’s  Tide product.
