TV Ads – 1985 – John Madden For Canon Cameras + Michelob Light Beer

DOG COMMENTARY:

There may never have been a more popular sports icon to ever do more television commercials than John Madden…..for he was the perfect pitchman for any and all products….cuz when you combined that “verbal exuberance” with his “big ole jolly Santa Claus” appearance….the advertising world has a perfect combination for a person to sell their product…..as evidence of this is provided in the Canon Camera commercial in 1985.

Canon Inc. is a Japanese multi-national corporation specializing in the manufacture of imaging and optical products including cameras, camcorders, photocopiers, steppers, computer printers and medical equipment….and is headquartered in Ōta, Tokyo, Japan.  In 1971 Canon introduced the F-1….which was a high-end SLR camera along with the FD lens range. In 1976 Canon launched the AE-1,,,,as the world’s first camera with an embedded micro-computer.  In 1982 “Wildlife as Canon Sees It” print ads first appeared in National Geographic magazine….and then Canon introduced the world’s first Inkjet printer…which used bubble-jet technology in 1985…..then Canon introduced Electro-Optical System (EOS) in 1987….which was named after the goddess of the dawn.

Anheuser-Busch is the largest brewing company in the United States….with a market share of 45 percent in 2016.  The company operates 12 breweries in the United States and nearly 20 in other countries…which increased recently since Anheuser-Busch acquired SABMiller…..with brands that include Budweiser, Busch, MichelobMichelob Light, Bud Light, and Natural Light.  Michelob Light was introduced to the public in 1978.
