Marv Albert is truly a legend in his own time….for he has brought sports to fans all over the world in many venues throughout the spectrum of sports…..where he has excelled in each….be it boxing (40 Title Fights)…or basketball (12 NBA Finals)….or football (8 Super Bowls)….or hockey (7 Stanley Cups)….or tennis (2 Wimbledon)….or baseball (2 World Series)….or what….but this lil ole chiweenie Sportsphile’s favorite Marv Albert work is in his interviews of people….for this is where Albert shines.
Obviously as seen in this video herewith….NBC sportscaster Gayle Gardner is of the same mind as me…. when it comes to Marv behind the mike in an interview….as she has chosen three of her favorites for your viewing enjoyment…..with St Louis Cardinals Manager Whitey Herzog…..then with Boston Red Sox future Hall of Fame OF Jim Rice…..and finally with the 41st U S President, George H. Bush.
The interview with President Bush carries extra special memories to our Bone Daddy….the original Sportsphile….and the guy responsible for this entire vintage video library showcased here at ImaSportsphile…..cuz Bone Daddy played in the Central Little League baseball program in Midland, Texas in 1957…..where Daddy George (Geo H) coached the Cubs team that his son George (Geo W) played catcher…..and over Bone Daddy’s career in the Central LL spanning 4 years from age 9 – 12…..pitched to G W or W….as he later became known as…..on many occasions….and to his recollection, struck G W out much more often than he got a hit. Anyway, one thing that I can attest too is that President George H Bush did in fact “love baseball”….as he said in the video herewith.
